![]() The Good Shepherd at Lake Wylie... A somewhat unusual and essential feature of the Church of the Good Shepherd is its satellite congregation in the Lake Wylie Area. In the early stages of River Hills Plantation, Mr. and Mrs. Jord Jordon visited the Church of the Good Shepherd and were so touched by the "beautiful little church" that he invited every Episcopalian living in River Hills to a barbecue at his home. At that barbecue, The Rev. Thomas Hudson (then Rector) and the Senior Warden gave a presentation about the Church of the Good Shepherd, which led to an increase in membership at the church in York. In 1984, the Rev. George McCollough, a resident of River Hills, was called as the Interim Rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd. That same year, Fr. McCollough began holding an 8:00am service which met in Dick Murphy's office at Moore's Landing in Lake Wylie. After a few years, the service was moved to the River Hills Community Church.
From our old location (Good Samaritan U.M.C. at the corner of S.C. 274/49 and S.C. 557): Travel west on S.C. 557 towards Clover. After passing Bethel School Road on the left, turn/fork right at the traffic light at the corner of S.C. 557 and Ridge Road. The church is .5 miles on your left.
