Our Rector...

On March 14, 2006, the Reverend Robert Gaillard Kirkland was installed as the twenty-second rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd.

Robert holds a Bachelor's degree in Music and Religious Studies from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Divinity from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry. He was ordained deacon May 25, 2002 at St. Helena's Episcopal Church in Beaufort, S.C. by the Rt. Rev. Edward L. Salmon, Jr., Bishop of South Carolina, and ordained priest and installed as the third Rector, December 7, 2002 at St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in Youngsville, Pa. by the Rt. Rev. Robert D. Rowley, Jr., Bishop of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

In January of 2006 he was called to the Good Shepherd.

Robert has served as a member of Diocesan Council. He has chaired the Commission on Ministry, and served on the Ecclesiastical Court and the Ecumenical Commission. He has served as a clergy mentor as part of the "First Three Years" program. Robert was also the chair of the Courtesies and Credentials Committee at the 93rd and 94th diocesan convention (NWPA), and was an Alternate to General Convention 2006. He is currently the diocesan chaplain to the Daughters of the King.

He has served as a member of the board of Faith Inn and President of the Youngsville Area Ministerial Association. He currently serves on the board of PATH and is President of the Western York County Christian Ministerial Association.

Robert and his wife Linda reside on North Congress St. in York.
